Deep Fried Garbanzo Beans (aka: Chickpeas)
This is a quick and easy snack, perfect for watching the MNF game, a movie, or just about anytime. You can make it as spicy as you like or – make it sweet by subbing in a blend of cinnamon, sugar & nutmeg instead of the savory spices!
I can eat a can of these myself – but they ARE beans, so beware!! Beans are high in fiber and if you drain them well, they aren’t all that fatty (but they are sooo yummy)! Enjoy!
Deep Fried Garbanzo Beans (aka Chickpeas)
- 1 can Garbanzo beans
- Vegetable oil for deep frying
- 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp. ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper (optional, if you want it spicy)
Drain and rinse garbanzo beans. Pat dry. Heat oil to 375. Deep fry beans in batches so they aren’t crowded, until golden brown and crisp, about 4 minutes.
While beans are frying, combine all spices and whisk together until well blended.
Drain beans well on paper towels. Toss with mixed spices as soon as they are removed from the fryer, and serve.
