Oktoberfest Palm Springs on Saturday, October 13, 2012 was fantastic! Cooking With Char was there and had a ball, visiting the booths, listening to some really great bands, tasting wonderful foods and of course, sampling the beers and tequila!
Here are some of the many pictures we took at the Chef’s Demo where Executive Chef Chris Mitchum of the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells and Adam Gertner, star of the Food Network’s Next Food Network Star, demonstrated their techniques, and passed out samples for everyone to enjoy. They graciously answered questions and made everyone believe they could prepare these items at home!

Prep for Chef Mitchum’s Smoked Salmon Pastrami Appetizer on Black Bread. YUM! He explained how to prep the salmon with Pastrami Rub from Savory Spice Shop in Palm Desert, smoke it in foil, showed how it looked when done.
Adam Gertler talking about sausage making. He explained the basics rules; good fresh meat and fat; fresh spices; and keep everything ice cold while working to make the sausages. Can’t wait to make them myself!
