Sangria for Sunday Brunch

How about a new sparkling beverage for Sunday brunch? My Sangria has been a favorite of friends for years and makes enough to serve a crowd. It’s also nice with a light lunch or dinner and, you can even take it poolside for a light, refreshing beverage to help get you through these last few weeks of summer. As they always say, try it, you’ll like it!

Sangria

  • 1 gallon Burgundy wine
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 1 quart fresh lemon juice
  • 2 1/2 cups fresh orange juice
  • 1 liter bottle club soda

Fresh fruit – lemon and orange slices, pineapple chunks, banana slices, maraschino cherries, fresh peaches or nectarine slices, red raspberries, etc.

Combine wine, sugar, and juices. Mix well until sugar is completely dissolved. Add fruit and chill until ready to serve. Add club soda to taste – just enough for some bubbles and sparkle.
